President Reuven Rivlin spoke last night, at the Yisrael Hayom Conference on Israel-US relations which was held in Jerusalem. The president met US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, guest of honor former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley and President Trump’s Representative for International Negotiations Jason Greenblatt and greeted them warmly.

Opening the conference, the president welcomed its participants and noted the importance of the event that highlighted the importance of the brave and long-standing friendship between Israel and the United States. He said “the friendship between us was and remains vital to the existence and success of the State of Israel. That friendship helped us in difficult times, in economics and security, to establish a flourishing and vibrant state in the heart of the Middle East. A state which is the national home of the Jewish people, a Jewish state and a democracy, a state that preserves our heritage and develops cutting-edge technology. Thanks to the alliance between Israel and the United States, today Israel is an island of security and progress that ensures the security of the region and contributes to the world in the fields of cyber, medicine, agriculture, security and economics. I am delighted that the deep connection between our two countries is not political. Republicans and Democrats, left and right, we all believe in the deep connection, the shared values and the mutual commitment between us.”

President Rivlin again thanked President Trump for moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem and expressed his hopes that many others would follow his lead. He also thanked former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley for her important and strong stand in support of Israel and its citizens during her term of office.
