Tema Festival 2025 in Jerusalem 0n September 2025
Tema Festival will take place in Jerusalem in September 2025. This is the fourth time the Tema Festival is being held, in collaboration between Tema - The Association for Preserving the Social and Cultural Heritage of Yemenite Jews
under the presidency of Dr. Yigal Ben-Shalom, and the Department
of Culture of the Jerusalem Municipality, the Ministry of Culture, and other
partners.
Over the course of the three-day festival, performances will be
held showcasing the continuous creative output rooted in Yemeni music,
including surprising fusions—and the audience can expect a true celebration.
Artists scheduled to perform at the festival include:
Shai Tsabari, Avner Gadassi, Zion Golan, Ravid Kahalani, Ron
Bakal, Shiran Avraham, the Yemeni Orchestra conducted by Eyal Wahab, Banat
al-Yemen ensemble, Niva Harel, Shiran Tzfira, Adi Tsabari, the Eastern Music
Center Orchestra, Gila Bashari, Amitai Aricha, Yair Tsabari, Elisaf Bashari,
Daniel Zendani, Sahar David, Kula Baraka, Roni Avrin, Einat Harel, Lihi Eshel,
and Oria Yaakov.

About Tema - The Association for Preserving the Social and
Cultural Heritage of Yemenite Jews
Tema - The Association for Preserving the Social and Cultural
Heritage of Yemenite Jews, under the presidency
of Dr. Yigal Ben-Shalom, engages in cultural, educational, and research
activities focused on the heritage of Yemenite Jews.
The association operates the Museum of Yemenite Jewish Heritagein
Netanya, conducts cultural events across Israel, publishes books and journals,
and supports young artists in music, dance, and visual arts whose work draws
inspiration from Yemenite Jewish traditions.
In recognition of its work, the association received the Prime
Minister's Prize for the Advancement of Research on Jewish Communities in Arab
Countries and Iran.
The association founded three professional musical ensembles, all
artistically recognized by the Music Department of the Ministry of Culture:
Voices of Yemen - Choir, led by Ravid Kahalani,
performing the sacred music of the yemenite jews, known as Singing of the
‘Diwan’
Banat al-Yaman, a women’s ensemble performing the traditional
songs of Jewish Yemenite women.
The Yemeni Orchestra, a 14-member ensemble conducted by Eyal
El-Wahab, performing artistic renditions of music from the Yemenite tradition.
