Prime Minister and Defense Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, IDF Chief-of-Staff Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kochavi and GOC Air Force Maj.-Gen. Alon Amikam Norkin, held today (Sunday, 27 October 2019), a security tour of the Palmachim Air Force base where they received security briefings on the UAV squadron and spoke with the commanders of the units at the base. The Prime Minister then toured an Air Force exhibit.

Following the tour, Prime Minister Netanyahu said: "We just finished a very impressive tour of the Palmachim Air Force Base. I see here the best of our youth, our best men and woman who operate UAVs day and night to confront our enemies – Iran and its proxies in a very broad area. The achievements are very impressive and the developments are on the way. I would also like to thank everyone for marking my birthday in such a very nice and very moving way.

I would like to congratulate President Trump for the impressive achievement which led to the death of the head of Daash, Al Baghdadi. This reflects our common determination, that of the US and that of all free nations, to fight the terrorist organizations and the terrorist states. This achievement is an important milestone but the campaign is yet before us."

The Prime Minister responded to a journalist's question "If war is forced on us – we will win a very decisive victory. What I saw here today at this air force base, the best personnel, and the best developments and weaponry will ensure that this will be the case."

Following the tour, Palmachim Air Force Base commanders and soldiers surprised the Prime Minister in honor of his 70th birthday with a toast in which IDF Chief-of-Staff Kochavi and GOC Air Force Maj.-Gen. Norkin also participated.
